how do you work a minolta xd 11?
I inherited my grandfather's minolta xd 11 a while back.. and I've been having some difficulty understanding the camera. the first photos I developed with the camera were really beautiful, and had a sort of soft, dreamy quality to them. however, something's changed and now the photos have a strange, ugly grain to them.. it may not sound like much, but it is really noticeable when looking at the different sets of photos.. does anyone know more about minolta xd 11 cameras? or what my camera might be doing? any help would be fantastic.
Kate, did you change the type of film you used? If so, did you remember to change the ISO setting?
Your first set of pictures were probably made with ISO 100 film. If you then bought ISO 400 film and forgot to change the setting, your pictures were overexposed by two stops and that would definitely give them a grainy appearance. The fact that you got usable prints shows the forgiving nature of film though.
Just remember to match the ISO setting on the camera with the film ISO and you'll be fine.
