Can you draw with India Ink over acrylic paint?
I already painted over a panel with thick coats of acrylic paint, but I want to go over it with some India ink or other colored inks. I know it's just plain stupid to paint over acrylic with water color because the paint won't soak in, and ink is somewhat similar to watercolor. But i also know ink isn't water soluble once dry. To get to my question, can I go over my painting with ink? Or would it just end up wiping off like watercolors? If it matters, i didn't have any white paint left so i tinted my acrylics i painted with with gesso, would that make any difference?

I have used pen over acrylic - both black and coloured, even white. However, it will wipe off, but not if you spray it with a product like Crystal Clear which forms a sort of plastic film over the painting and protects it. I think if you paint larger areas with ink on acrylic it will contract and form little blobs. Why not paint a small scrap with acrylic paint and then when it's dry, test your ink on it? Gesso is a form of cheap acrylic paint, so it should work as a tinting agent.
