Finding the Perfect Humidor for your Budding Cigar Collection

If you have recently discovered the pleasure of cigars, then you are probably anxious to experiment with as many different brands, tobaccos and tastes as possible. Size

Exactly how large is your collection now – or how big do you want it to be? Humidors are available with a wide range of storage capacities. Display vs. Storage

You must also decide whether you just want to store your cigars in a humidor or wish to have them on display for your guests to observe. Many humidor models come with glass windows of varying sizes that allow you to see the cigars inside, though they may be a bit more expensive. If displaying your cigars is not important to you, then you can opt for the basic wood veneer exterior humidor.

Humidifiers and Hygrometers

In order for your cigars to remain fresh for a long time, you must store them in optimum conditions. Generally speaking, cigars last longer in a temperature of about 65 degrees Fahrenheit in relative humidity of between 65% and 70%. Many humidors come with devices that allow you to regulate and monitor the humidity inside them. A humidifier allows you to change the humidity inside the humidor, while a hygrometer measures the humidity and displays it either in analog or digital form.
