Why is the devil such a bad guy?
I mean, like, in the Bible they don't show him with horns or torturing people or vomiting up pools of purple slime and with a pointed tail and red skin. It seems the Bible has a measured view of the chap. He can tempt you off the path of righteounes, OK, but he is not some insectoid weirdo ready to steal your soul. You never get any mention of souls in the Bible or their theft. So why do we today think of Mr. Devil as such an awkard fellow to introduce to out mothers?
Well the word devil comes from a word meaning deceiver as he is supposed to be the Father of all lies. However that isn't true, in the book of Genesis God tells Adam if he eats of the forbidden he will die, the Serpent tells Eve that they wouldn't die and would gain knowledge like God. The eat and what happens... not death so God lied. Also in the Book of Job Satan does torture Job but only at God's command. Read the Bible and God has done more acts of evil then Satan can dream of. The Devil would be awkward to introduce our mothers because he would be straight forward and is quite a charmer. He would show her that all she has been brought up to believe is wrong. After all Lucifer is the light bringer.
