Quad Core Processor 4.0Ghz+?
I have just successfully overclocked my Intel Core 2 Quad q9550 last night @ 4.0Ghz and I feel proud of myself. Well a few weeks ago at work a customer was telling me my CPU was crap and that he's never saw one under 4.0Ghz. So right away i knew this guy was full of it, though today a tech friend said he knows a guy that has a AMD CPU stock @ 4.2Ghz.Was he mistaken or do they actually exist @ STOCK clocks? The highest Quad AMD CPU I could find was 3.4Ghz on Newwegg.
He is mistaken 3.4ghz is a fast as they come at stock.
Phenom 2 processors are really good but its uncommon to get one above 4ghz when overclocking. I think 3.6ghz - 3.8ghz is quite achievable by most people but AMD would never find enough chips capable of running at above 4ghz to sell than at that speed.
Not to mention the harsh reviews they would get when websites tested the power consumption of Phenom 2s running at 4.2ghz with huge voltages to achieve it.
