can you help me to not be nervous (IM SINGING IN FRONT OF 300 PEOPLE!)?
HI today im singing in front of about 300 people at a swim meet im singing the star spangled banner. ive never sang in front of an audience before. ive only been taking voice lessons for maybe like about ALMOST a year. ive certainly improved my voice a lot. i know that i can nail this song because ive been working so hard and practicing non stop. can you give me some advice on calming myself down just in case i get nervous once i see how many people will be watching me?
My first "solo" was nerve wrecking, it was in front of my whole school around over 1000 people and I'm very stage shy.
you just have to tell your self you are that good, your better then the rest because you got it, they chose you for a reason. you could have never got it if they didn't think you could do it. when your actually singing hold your body high. your legs will shake (because your nervous) but stand firm. Not like a statue, still show emotion and pride in what you are singing. You don't need to worry about smiling when your done it just happens, your face just lights up.
A few tips:
you don't have to look at people, look at the back wall or a flag
don't stare look at different spot in the room
do take deep breaths before and after
if your too close to the mic you can move back a tiny bit
Have Fun, even if you mess up at least you got the chance to sing
