Loosing a toe nail and there is a strong odor?
I smashed my big toe about a month ago, all around the nail was swollen with blood and that finally popped. I went to the Dr a few days after it had happened nothing was broke, he just said I would loose the nail, it is loose except for one side. Today I had noticed a very strong odor coming from it. Around the inner side of the nail it is black and underneath is black. Does this sound normal for loosing a nail?
That sounds normal. I lost 2 toe nails a few years ago, and it smelled really bad when it fell off. It's not very pleasant, but it won't last much longer. When it completely falls off the odor will go away!
I wouldn't worry about an infection like the other people are saying unless you notice your actual toe turning red, or a worsening in how swollen it is. . Just the odor alone doesn't sound like a problem--or at least it wasn't in my case.
