Cranberry Tablets/Capsules?
Has anyone ever tried these? Do they help?
Thinking of getting some to help with reaccuring UTI but not sure what mg to get. One shop sells 400mg and one sells 2000mg.
Yes they help. I started taking them for the past couple months and I haven't had a UTI since. I usually get them frequently. I don't think the 200 or 400mg matters as long as you're getting some into your diet everyday. Basically cranberry juice/tablets create an acidic environment in your urinary tract which prevents the bacteria from latching onto the cell walls, so they can't grow.
You can also drink cranberry juice instead of buying the capsules/tablets because it's probably cheaper. Just make sure you're drinking 100% juice and not "cranberry cocktail" which is full of high fructose corn syrup. The more concentrated the actual cranberry juice is, the better it will work and the healthier it will be.
Make sure you always wipe front to back when you go to the bathroom because a UTI is usually caused by the bacteria from your anus so you don't want to pass it to your urinary tract. About 80% of UTIs are caused by e. coli. Also, make sure you are clean when you have sexual contact. It helps to go pee within 10 minutes after having sex because urine is sterile so it helps to cleanse your urinary tract of any bacteria that may have traveled in. When you have sex, don't let the guy's penis touch your anus and then your vaginal area afterwards because that's another way the bacteria can spread.
Lastly, make sure you clean down there really well and shower regularly.
