I've got some shadow on my upper lips. How do I get rid of it?

Okay umm...guess I'm not so lucky and I'm born with quite a bit of facial hair on my upper lips. I've been tweazing it for years, but recently I realized that despite the fact that I tweazed it all out and there's no visible facial hair above the surface, there's still a shadow over that whole area. That whole area of skin is just darker and it's driving me crazy because every time I see my face in the mirror I see a moustache. =/
