3 yr old Daughter with bladder infection (had medical care last night) Need help?
Ok So my 3yr old daughter went to the hospital yesterday early evening time. She had a fever of 104.5 and was screaming and crying her tummy hurt so bad. So I rushed her to the hospital.
Once there they took Blood (3 Vials), Urine Sample, xrays...then concluded that she had Severe Bladder Infection. So they gave her a shot of Antibiotics in her thigh. And gave prescription to fill in the morning. So we have done all that. However she has had vaccinations in her legs, they never hurt before. With this shot, her leg is hurting so bad. She is screaming and crying..Is this normal?
Also she is sleeping alot? She woke up last night around 3am...screaming insane fever and tossed all night long....Does any of this sound normal.
I know I get bladder infections all the time...I don't normally run a fever..but do have pain in my tummy...but I never get the way she is acting....Please anyone that might know answer...Docs office is closed today...
If you can keep them on her, try wetting and wringing out some little cotton socks and then putting them on and covering them with little wool socks or adult socks if that's all you have - her body heat will dry the socks in a couple of hours - that will help blood flow throughout the body and help fever - it is called hydrotherapy. SInce 3yo are difficult to do this with you might try comforting her with a cool cloth on her head.
I don't want to scare you but my better half is a physician who treats lots of pediatric cases - says after diagnosing this and starting treatment would inquire as to who has been with the child besides the mother. It is a screening question to help determine if there is any possibility the child got the bladder infection in an "unnatural manner". It could very well be and probably is just a bladder infection but physicians are required to learn if the child has been alone with any adolescent males or adult males unsupervised by the mother - just in case. I thought it was worth mentioning if the ER doctor did not ask these questions. Hope she is better soon! Good luck.
