How To Do A Manicure - Learn The Steps
1. If you have any nail polish on, use some cotton balls or tissue and some polish remover. Many women have succumbed to the drying effects of using too much remover, particularly ones that contain acetone, so use sparingly and preferably an acetone free product.
2. Next get a high-quality emery board and begin to shape your nails. How long or short your nails are going to be is a matter of preference, however, if your nails are weak or brittle -- the shorter the better. This is one of the most important steps on how to do manicure, as the shape an length will have the most impact on the appearance of your nails. Always file each nail in one single direction, or you can damage the tips.
3. The following step will be to get a nail cleaning brush and clean your nails.
4. Place your hands in a water soak to soften cuticles.
5. Get your cuticle pusher and push back your cuticles -- trim hangnails and skin flakes with cuticle scissors, then apply cuticle oil.
6. After letting the oil soak in, take some polish remover and gently rub the oil off, so the nail polish off. As any manicurist how to do manicure and they will tell you this is the number one reason why polish flakes off early -- no oil or cream can remain on your nails.
7. Next put a light coat of nail strengthener on as a base coat, or you can finish here if no color is going to be put on.
8. Apply one or two color coats of your choosing and finish with a protective top coat.
