Advice on cement backerboard for a bath/shower?
Hello
I am having my tile around my bathtub/shower removed and having a new 3 pc fibreglass surround instead of tile.
I would like to have cement backerboard behind the surround as an added defense against water damage
One of my contractors provinding the estimate stated that it should be possible. The other one said that it is not feasible and that the surround goes directly on the studs..
Who's right here ? I just want a waterproof environment.
Either one could be right. It depends on the surround. Some are mounted directly to the studs. Choose the product first, then follow the instructions provided with the surround. Choose a quality one.
