The nails on both of my big toes are looking very strange. It looks as if the "moon" has grown all the way out?

For some reason the nails on both of my big toes are growing VERY strange. All my other toe nails are just fine. It looks like the "moon" is growing out really far (this may not be what is happening but that is what it looks like). I was taking off my toenail polish the other night and there is now a large horazontal ridge across the nail on my right foot. I have no clue what is going on! I used to have really pretty toenails and now all of a sudden they look just awful. Does anyone know what this might be?
