Learn How to Find Paraben Free Face Care, Lotions and Creams
As you are shopping for paraben free face care, there are other things to look for, as well. Paraben free lotions and creams are a good place to start, but there are many other irritants and hazards to avoid, too. Some of them are even more dangerous than parabens.
You should always look for fragrance-free, as well as paraben free. The term "fragrance" is like a minefield. Companies are not required to list the chemicals used to create the scent.
Even natural fragrances are known to cause allergic reactions, but some of the chemical compounds are toxic to the nervous system. Continued use of products that are loaded with artificial or natural fragrances can cause conditions like depression and anxiety.
It's okay to use a dab of perfume. But, body lotion and face cream are spread more heavily over the skin, increasing exposure and risk.
Fragrance-free and paraben free products may still contain non-paraben preservatives, such as phenoxyethanol. Phenoxyethanol is classified as a "harmful skin irritant" by the European Union's Cosmetic Ingredients Review. It's used is restricted in Japan. The compound may also be toxic to the nervous system.
So, you should actually be shopping for preservative and paraben free lotions and creams that do not have added fragrances. The reason, from the dermatologist's standpoint, is this. Compounds that are known to cause allergic reactions and irritation do more harm than good. Since there are better and safer alternatives, why take the risk?
There is a new line of paraben free face care products that contain nothing artificial. The ingredients are actually designed to heal damaged and irritated skin.
The company's paraben free lotions and creams can be used on a regular basis to prevent infections, irritations, inflammation and redness, as well as counter the signs of aging. They contain numerous antioxidants, because they are needed to counter the effects of free radicals.
If allowed to, free radicals cause damage to the cellular membranes, collagen fibers and even DNA strands. It is excessive free radical production that causes wrinkles and other signs of aging, as well as skin cancer.
We have been told that wrinkles and fine lines are caused by overexposure to the sun, as well as environmental pollutants. But, experts often fail to mention that UV radiation from the sun and environmental pollutants (smoke, for example) increase the production of free radicals.
