Little Thing
Why does my coworker feel the need to tell me every little thing she's doing?
It drives me batty. I can't tell if she's complaining about having a job or if she's looking for acknowledgement and pats on the back. Every little thing I get an update. I'm not a supervisor or anything. We're very autonomous and only really have to coordinate if one of us is leaving their desk. That's all I need, or want, to know: at desk or not at desk. I don't understand.
I kind of think she's just dramatic, which I can't stand, but I'm wondering if it's something else.
I have 2 people who do this at work. My boss does it for acknowledgement. He wants a pat on the back, even from those who are, position wise, beneath him. Then another woman does it as well, what she has done, is going to do, etc. With her, it seems like its more out of habit. She talks just to talk quite often and this may be her way of talking without saying anything meaningful or important. Yes, it is very annoying. And unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. I have tried a few times to call her by my bosses name to let her know what she sounds like but it doesnt seem to work.
