Gel nail advice (re curing lamp)?
Hi there
I used to have gel nails applied professionally but they were expensive to pay for every month. As I've seen them done so many times, I'm thinking of having a go at doing them myself.
The technician always used an IBD lamp to cure the nails. I've had a look at getting one of these, but they seem to be very expensive.
Should I really be spending a lot of money on an IBD lamp, or is there a cheaper alternative that is just as good?

I highly discourage toying around with gels if you're not getting any training. Those things are only sold to professionals for a reason.
If you don't know how to apply the gels correctly, you can get it on your actual skin. That can cause you to become over exposed to the product, and you can become permanently allergic to any artificial nail product. Not only that, but if you get any moisture trapped beneath the gel, you can get a bacterial infection.
Also, the whole set is very expensive. You need the lamp, the gels, the gel colours, the bonder, the proper brushes, the cleanser, and all of that. Also, the lamps don't last too long so you have to get them changed, and the bulbs aren't too cheap either. If you're not thinking about getting trained and making money doing this, it's gonna be a waste. It will be cheaper to just get them done.
