I am looking for an affordable strobe light kit?

I want to set up a mini studio in my apartment and I'm looking for advice on a strobe light kit or suggestions on what I should buy. The least expensive one the camera store in town sells is a tameron kit for $999 and I don't have the kind of money. I looking more between $150 and $400...

In your price range you are looking at an incandescent studio set up.

Just a two light, 750 watt (with umbrellas and stands ... not counting the sandbags) set up will cost you about $400

Your D90 can be adjusted for perfect white balance when shooting products under incandescent lamps. Unless you are planning on shooting "jumping models", buying a studio flash system with 350 watt/sec heads is really not necessary.
