I'm growing comfrey in a huge pot, but need a lot of N, can growing with complementary plants(legumes) help?

Believe me, I'd prefer to grow in the ground to help the taproot. Currently I have two soy plants in the same container, but I'm unsure if they can fix enough atmospheric nitrogen to make an appreciable difference. I've heard urine is an acceptible source, but it will throw off sodium balance in the soil. Any suggestions will help.

Leguminous vegetables do produce their own nitrogen so your thinking is correct. You may be giving the Comfrey all it needs by using your current fertilizer. Remember the first number on fertilizers is the nigtrogen. So a higher first number means higher nitrogen. A 6-6-6 is a balanced one. So, if you use a 10-6-6 you are providing more nitrogen. But I do like your idea of using soy plants to compliment. Here in Fl. we do not grown Comfrey because it is very invasive and takes over.
