Prada Sunglasses – The History of Prada
The Prada label was started by designer Mario Prada in 1913 who designed handbags, shoes, trunks, and suitcases and sold them to boutiques in Milan. Prada products have been popular for a number of years and even decades ago, people loved the high quality, luxurious and exquisite style the brand offered. In 1978 Mario’s granddaughter, Miuccia Prada, took over the company and although she had no specific experience in the fashion or design industry, her sense and eye for fashion was all that was required to push the brand to the next level which was into the world of Haute Couture.
Prada Sunglasses – the Brand’s Rise to Haute Couture Fame
The classic Prada handbag launched in 1985 was the first item which escalated the brand to the top of the fashion ranks. Made using an incredibly simple design and black nylon, the handbag became an overnight sensation. Of course, when a brand creates a highly sought after ‘it’ product that isn’t affordable to the everyday individual, it suddenly becomes more in demand and considered to be exclusive. The same applies today to the collection of Prada sunglasses.
Prada Sunglasses – Pretty and Feminine
In the years since Prada’s rise to fame, the style has definitely evolved to keep up with haute couture trend but retains the effective simple style which is emphasised by the use of fine fabrics and materials and exquisite craftsmanship. The collection of Prada sunglasses are highly reflective of this and whilst designing frames that are considered fashionable, the sunglasses also have that high end, classic and luxurious appeal with many designs being oversized and beautifully feminine. The use of muted colours including browns, deep purple and tortoiseshell also keep the look demure and refined with some styles boasting more vibrant colours including pink and purple or a fading colour effect which also adds visual interest to the sunglasses. Feminine and delicate features of some of the styles include wave shaped arms and unique butterfly shaped frames, nipped in at the exterior centre edges. The iconic and distinct Prada triangle logo is either positioned on the arm hinge as a feature or written subtly on the side of the arms.
