Block Sanding
Can I get some tips on how to paint the block of my 454?
Im pulling my 454 out of my Camaro and Im going to overhaul it. After I do that Im going to repaint it and add some new parts. How do I need to do this. Sand, primer, paint? And how do I block every thing off? Any Help would be great. Thanks.

what you can do, and i fine its a big time saver for me, while your engine is out, disassemble it down to bare block. power wash your engine with a good dirt and grease soluation. make sure your engine is clean and dry. while you have it apart, paint each part before it is assembled back on. it's best to allow your painted parts to air dry for at least 24 hours, in clean area, before handling them. get the G2 engine painting system, it's about 50 bucks. your engine would look great with the chevy red color. what ever color you get, make sure it's a heat resistance paint. dont go to auto zone or those kinds of places, their paint is cheap and wont last past 2 moths. go to a good paint store or on line and get the right paint. take your time and, if possible, replace your old parts with chrome parts. that could get costly, but will look very nice. remember the old saying...if you don't have the time to do it right the first time, you'll never fine the time to redo it.....
